Andreas is one of the world’s leading scientists in industrial biotechnology with extensive experience in working with proteins. He holds a doctorate in biotechnology from ETH Zürich in Switzerland.
He is also a co-founder and executive of FGen, a biotechnology spin-off of the ETH Zürich, that developed the nanoliter reactor (NLR) research methodology. In 2022, FGen was bought by US-based Ginkgo Bioworks. Today, Andreas still leads FGen which became a Foundry of Ginkgo Bioworks.

Andreas is a very sporty guy - which helps him to keep up with his three lively and football-interested sons. He enjoys mountaineering and makes every year an expedition to an over 4000m high mountain with some of his best friends. Climbing, sweating and an astonishing view from the top guaranteed!
Andreas lives with his family in Basel (Switzerland).
